Policies

Parent handbook available upon enrollment.

Operating Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

 

Holidays: New Year’s Eve 1:00 p.m. dismissal, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on Friday before the holiday, When a holiday falls on a Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday.

 

Vacations: When child is on vacation, payment in full is still required.

 

Closures: Full payment is required for closures that are due to circumstances beyond the control of the day care. Circumstances such as power outages for an extended period of time, hazardous weather conditions, or road conditions which require everyone to stay off the roads, and any other emergencies.

 

Termination: One month’s advance written notice is required if child will no longer participate in the day care program.

 

Pick-up: All persons authorized to pick up your child must be listed on the emergency card. The person must have a picture ID when picking up for the first time. A note from parent is also required at all times when authorizing pick up by someone other than parent.

 

Absences: If your child is going to be absent we would appreciate notification the day before, or the morning of the absence by 10:00 a.m.

 

Illness: A child with fever can return to daycare after a period of 24 hours of being fever free, or until a medical evaluation indicates inclusion.  A child with diarrhea, vomiting, or any communicable illness can return back to day care with a physician’s note stating the illness is no longer communicable, or infectious, and that the child is healthy enough to engage in daily activities.

 

Medication: All medication must be in its original container and labeled with the child’s name, required dosage, and frequency. We are certified to administer medication.

 

Clothing: Your child must have two extra sets of clothes at all times. All clothes must be labeled with your child’s name. All blankets must be taken home as needed for washing. Infants must have warm footie P.J.’s for sleeping, not blankets.

 

Special Needs: Children requiring diapers, and wipes must have these items provided for by their parents. Children with special dietary needs must have meals provided for by parents.

 

Meals: A balanced lunch will be served on a daily basis. Parents must provide two healthy snacks and a beverage for their child on a daily basis. A light breakfast will be offered. Snacks must be in a paper bag or lunch box and labeled with child’s name. Parents of infants must provide all meals on a daily basis. We are a peanut free center.

 

Discipline: Disruptive behavior will be addressed with a “quiet time” in a supervised area. No hitting, biting or foul language is accepted. Should this occur the parents/guardians will be notified, and will be given the opportunity to resolve the situation with their child. If the behavior persists, the child will no longer be able to participate in the day care program. All day care providers are mandated reporters. It is our obligation to report child abuse or maltreatment of a child.

 

Toileting: The staff will assist children to the bathroom and help them wash their hands after toileting.

 

Potty Training: The Learning Garden will support the potty training efforts of the parents, will assist the child with remembering to go, and change child’s clothes when soiled.

 

Personal Belongings:
  • Weather appropriate attire
  • Clothing should be comfortable and easy for children to manage
  • Every item must be labeled
  • Toys should not be brought to school.  Under no circumstances are any toys, which promote violence (guns, water toys, etc.) permitted at school.  Please assure children that there are plenty of toys at school.

Late Fees: Pick-up after 6:30 p.m. will be billed at a rate of $8.00/fifteen minutes. Late pick-up is to be used for emergencies only.
Fees are based on enrollment, not attendance. Payment is still required if your child is absent. Full payment is required for holidays and early closures listed above.
 

All personnel are mandated Child Abuse and Maltreatment reporters.
